Creating your own thrifted clothing subscription box
Recently, the popularity of clothing subscription boxes has skyrocketed, offering convenience and curated fashion choices delivered right to your doorstep. However, traditional subscription boxes often come with a hefty price tag and may not align with sustainable or budget-friendly values. One particular trend gaining momentum is thrifted clothing subscription boxes, where curated thrifted pieces are delivered to your doorstep regularly. Inspired by the ethos of sustainability and uniqueness, creating your own thrifted clothing subscription box can be a rewarding and enjoyable endeavor. In this tutorial, I show you the whole process of creating your personalized thrifted clothing subscription box, tailored to your style preferences and budget.

It’s essential to define your personal style preferences. Take some time to reflect on the types of clothing you feel most comfortable and confident in. Consider your lifestyle, preferred colors, patterns, and silhouettes. Are you more inclined towards bohemian, minimalist, vintage, or eclectic styles? Creating a mood board or Pinterest board can help visualize your style inspiration and guide your thrifted clothing selections.
From your images choose your:
Color palette – What color clothing will you be looking for?
Types of pieces – Do you need tops? Bottoms? accessories? Decide what you would like to round out your wardrobe.
Accessories – Create a list of accessories to look for. For me that was earrings, scarves and winter hats and gloves.
With your list in hand, set a budget for how much you want to spend and then its time to go shopping!!!
The beauty of thrifted clothing lies in its uniqueness and affordability. Begin by exploring local thrift stores, consignment shops, flea markets, and online platforms such as thrift stores on Etsy or Poshmark. Keep an open mind and be prepared to sift through racks to uncover hidden gems. Look for high-quality fabrics, timeless pieces, and items that resonate with your style preferences. Don’t hesitate to try on different sizes and experiment with styles you might not typically consider. Remember, the thrill of thrift shopping lies in the unexpected discoveries.
Once you’ve gathered an assortment of thrifted clothing pieces, it’s time clean and process your thrifted finds.

The first step is to remove all price tags and examine the clothing for any tears or areas that need repair. I like to do these before washing unless I need the garment to be in the dryer for some reason.
Look at all the washing instructions and wash your clothing accordingly. Keep dark colors separate from light colors. I like to hand wash my sweaters and dry them flat. Some items can go into the washing machine and dryer. Hang to dry any hand washed items and use an iron or clothing steamer to get out any wrinkles.
Prepare your items like they are new! This may seem like a wasted extra step but it will make your thrifty finds seem super special if they have hand made tags!
Neatly fold yours clothing pieces.
Create hang tags for accessories and even put your jewelry on decorative cards.
This is another step that may seem unnecessary. You can skip it of course but I recommend you add some tissue and wrap items up before putting them in the box. After all – this is a present for you!
I even decorate the box to cover up any branding and to make it look pretty.
Package up your items into your box and stash it away for a week or two!
Open your box when you are ready for a lift and some colorful additions to your wardrobe.
