Chamomile Hair Brightener

Chamomile Hair Brightener

When we stayed for the weekend at our grandparents house we were sometimes given some beauty treatments. These treatments included some questionable things like having an egg added to our shampoo or dunking our hair into the rainwater bucket (which actually left it super soft if I remember correctly) Sometimes our little German grandmother used to rinse our hair in cold chamomile tea and sent us to sit in the sun so that our hair would lighten. Well I am not sure that our hair ever got lighter but it did make it shine. So that is why I am bringing you this recipe/tutorial for the chamomile hair brightener.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a fragrant little daisy like flower that you can find in your local garden shop. If you have some you can snip off the flowers and let them air dry. Or you can use Chamomile tea either loose or in bags for this recipe.

If you are not using premade tea bags you can make your own. Lay out a piece of cheese cloth and add about 1/4 cup of chamomile to the middle. Tie up the chamomile with the string.

With the tea bag in the jar add boiling water to cover the bag, about two cups of water.

Let your tea steep for at least a half an hour. Remove the tea bag and let the liquid cool completely.

Using a funnel add your chamomile liquid to a spray bottle. Spray your hair and style normally.
