Now that the days are getting shorter and we are spending more time indoors we may have to get a little creative in order to entertain ourselves. So what better way than to make up some drink recipes? Granny and Grandpa had a whole cache of recipe cards with lovely whimsical names and really strong ingredients. For example: “November Storm”; 4 oz. Gin, 4 oz. Rum, 4 oz. Italian Vermouth, 4 dashes of bitters. Or this one called “Cabin Fever” : 2 oz. Jumby Bay Rum, 1 oz. Kahlua, 1/2 oz. Rose’s Lime Juice, 2 ice cubes. Those are a little strong for me but we have come up with some drink recipes to commemorate sad and happy times ourselves. Which brings me to the Cocktail Journal and I just want to say, in case you haven’t noticed… time passes by. Yup, and also, we (people) tend to forget things. Yeah I know that there’s the internet and blah blah blah. Haven’t you ever lost anything on your computer? Well here is a way to keep those memories and awesome drinks concoctions in one place. The journal is easy to make with just some inexpensive supplies and really fun way to spend an afternoon.

Supplies:
Composition Book
Old magazine
Scissors or Exacto Knife
Rubber Cement
Scrapbook or decorative paper

Choose your images – start with some larger images that you can layer others over. I chose some drink advertisements and party theme ads as well as individual drinks and bottles. Cut out your images and arrange them until you get a composition that you like.

First glue your decorative paper to the inside covers, let dry and trim. You can add some fun images to the inside to add interest.

Finally glue the images to the front and back of your book and let dry. Spray with clear acrylic sealant if you wish (I skipped this step but I might do it later if the paper starts to wear). Stash this near your booze so it is handy the next time you are mixing some drinks!
