Make these Cosmic Lunch Totes using vintage space textbooks.

Using plain brown paper bags to carry your lunch is fine. But sometimes you want to be different, unique, a little curious even. Why not create a decorated lunch bag of your own design…
These medium size paper bags with the handles are so convenient for carrying your lunch but they are much more fun with some vintage space images pasted to the outside! And they are so simple to make – try it!

Supplies:
Brown paper lunch bags
Scissors
Glue
Images from vintage text books
Old gift card for smoothing paper

This is a good way to use that musty old book that your dog is going to chew up anyway – but any images will do. Magazines or even wrapping paper work well – just make sure your images will hold up to the glue, do a test on some regular paper first if you are not sure.

Cut out your images. I left mine pretty large so that they quickly covered the face of the bag. Cut a couple of images in the outline of a shape such as the rocket or astronaut above. These really make the collage come together pasted over the base images.

Arrange your images and rearrange until you get a layout you like. Paste the images down and use your vinyl applicator or credit card to smooth out any excess glue or air bubbles. Let dry. Repeat on the other side.

All finished! You can glue some fancy paper on the inside bottom and slightly up the sides to sturdy up your bag since you won’t want these to wear out too fast. Make a bunch!
