Closed container gardening can be tricky.
Sometimes you can find the most beautiful containers for plants at thrift shops or garage sales but the problem is… no drainage holes. If you ever tried to grow a succulent in a cute tin you know this is a death sentence for your poor little plants.
Here’s a way to plant in a closed container creating a shallow drainage area under the plants.
What you’ll need:
Small rocks
Vintage container
Piece of burlap or filter fabric
Potting soil
Small container plants
Fill the bottom of your container with rocks enough to cover the bottom.
Cover the rocks with filter fabric, burlap or coffee filters.
