In these last weeks of summer when the sun starts to set earlier and earlier and the stores are filled with back to school supplies, many of us can suddenly feel the need to hold onto and savor each warm and sunny day, wishing for time to stand still.
We may cram in at the last minute all those things we wanted to do; swim in the ocean, ride a bike, drink some sangria with friends around a fire, take a nap in a hammock, read a trashy novel, or visit a seaside resort.
Are there some summer memories or a place you visited this summer that you want to remember once the sidewalks are icy, the sky is dark and you are longing for carefree summer days? If you have some keepsakes or mementos to commemorate the waning days of summer, this easy vacation diorama is a great way to capture it.

Supplies:
Small rectangular cardboard box
Postcard
Glue
Moss, shells, sands or other materials to compliment your postcard
Fake flowers and leaves
Small figure, keepsake or other bauble
Photo paper

Here’s how to make it:
Measure your postcard with reference to the box – if it is too large trim it to fit and if it is too small, make four copies of your post card at high resolution on photo paper.

Trim the top and bottom and sides to fill in the perimeter of the post card – this will look like an extension of the postcard.

Glue down your strips to the perimeter and then glue down your post card. Put some weights on top of the postcard so that the edges do not curl up.

Once your postcard is dry, add moss or shells at the bottom of you box to create a foreground.

Add your figure, flowers, leaves etc.

To add a hanger, use hot glue to attached a ribbon loop to the back of the box.

Hang and enjoy your summer memories.
