Do you have a bike? I have this sweet beach cruiser and I always wanted bike basket flowers for it. I longed for a cute banana seat bike with the flowers on the basket when I was a kid. Isn’t it funny how we hold onto things sometimes? Well I have long since let go of denying myself things that I wanted from childhood as long as I can afford it and also have the room in my life for it. I do have room for this silk flower bike basket and I think you should also make room for it if you have a bike. Or maybe you just want to decorate a basket. That’s totally fine! There are no rules.

This is a photo of the old flowers. I wired these onto the basket directly but they needed a refresh and a better system to attach the flowers. I took off the old flowers and salvaged the ones I thought were still usable.

Supplies:
Silk Flowers
Scissors
Floral wire
Plastic base (I used a piece of old sink protector mat)
Hot glue
Wire cutters
Pliers

Begin by selecting the flower combinations you want and trim the silk flower stems to about 5″ each. Sort by color.

To get an idea of how your arrangement will look loosely arrange your flowers as you like them. Here I have tried to stagger the flowers in a pleasing pattern.

Wire the first flowers individually around the stem.

Start in the middle and attach your flowers to the base.

Wrap the wire around so that the flower stem is secured to the base. You can start to add flowers as you go.

I added flowers to the ends to give my flower arrangement a place to end that was symmetrical.

To fill in the center of the arrangement you can make small bundles of flowers and wire them in as a bunch.

Keep adding flowers as you go working from the center to the ends.

Once you have all your flowers wired to the base you can fluff and bend them so that there are no holes or gaps showing. Add more flowers if needed.

The arrangement is easy to attach to your basket, just wire the plastic base to the wire or wicker basket and you are ready to ride.

Your bike will be easy to spot in a crowd and also add a little sunshine to your bike rides.
